A PATH to a Poorly Scheduled Tweet

The PATH commuter train line, which runs between New York City and New Jersey, scheduled a Tweet for 10 a.m. ET Sunday to wish its riders a happy Mother’s Day. Unfortunately, it was not a happy Mother’s Day for the 34 people injured in an accident in Hoboken, N.J., one hour earlier.

The accident occurred at about 9 a.m. Sunday, and reports surfaced on Twitter within the next hour, followed shortly thereafter by the unfortunately timed Mother’s Day Tweet.

The scheduled Tweet was a nice gesture, and it would certainly be a stretch to blame the administrators of the @PATHtweet account for not thinking of canceling the Tweet, as they were likely gathering information about the accident. Just chalk this one up to poor timing.
