AAA Discounts 1.0 (iTunes App Store)

This handy iPhone app shows 160,000 places in the U.S. and Canada that provide discounts to AAA members. You don’t even need to plan to travel to find useful information in this app. I was surprised to find a number of places around my area that offer discounts to AAA members.

The app also provides map and routing information to help you on your journey.

I found one annoying aspect of the AAA Discounts app. I wanted to look at places outside of my home area. But, if you let it know your current location, it also seems to pop back there when you really want to look for places where you want to go (not where you are right now). So, I simply didn’t allow it to know my current location so I could easily navigate away from where I am on its map. But, hey, it is a version 1.0 release. This sort of thing will probably be taken care of in future releases.

The AAA Discounts app looks like a keeper to me so far.
