ABC has an app in the works that would let users who are also cable or satellite subscribers live stream television shows, according to reports.

The New York Times has the story:

The app will live stream ABC programming to the phones and tablets of cable and satellite subscribers, allowing those subscribers to watch ‘Good Morning America’ on a tablet while standing in line at Starbucks, for instance, or watch ‘Nashville’ on a smartphone while riding a bus home from work. The app could become available to some subscribers this year, according to people briefed on the project, who insisted on anonymity because they were not authorized to speak about it publicly.

Many popular NBC television shows including The Office, Parks & Recreation, and Saturday Night Live, are available for streaming on the Hulu app a day after they air on television. The new ABC app would let app users view the broadcasts live.
Last week, CBS released a new iOS app that lets users stream full episodes of its television shows. It does not include a live streaming feature.
