Sports Illustrated Digital’s Golf.com wants to make sure golfers will never feel out of touch, no matter where they are. The Web site teamed up with on-device mobile apps provider Action Engine to launch the Golf.com Course Finder.
Now in beta, the Course Finder is a free downloadable mobile application that lets golf enthusiasts search for course info based on their preferences. The app even lets them compare courses, pick a favorite and click on the phone number to call and arrange a tee time.
The Golf.com Course Finder runs on Windows Mobile phones and, coincidentally, Windows Mobile is the exclusive launch advertiser for the new service.
Separately, mocoNews reports that Action Engine has closed a $6.5 million bridge round of financing, bringing its total funding to an impressive $71.5 million.
