Adidas Star Wars CantinaAdidas has come out with the next viral YouTube sensation with a new Star Wars inspired clip for their Adidas Originals collection. The new clip, released just in time for the World Cup, brings FIFA to outer space with a remix of the famous Mos Eisley Cantina scene. The clip composites David Beckham, Snoop Dogg, Franz Beckenbauer, Daft Punk, DJ Neil Armstrong, Ciara, Ian Brown, Noel Gallagher and Jay Buruchel into the famous scene in one of the coolest re-edits we’ve ever seen.

Tom Ramsden, Adidas Originals Global Director of Communications, explains the direction the company was taking with their Adidas Originals campaign and how they came up with the Star Wars idea on StarWars.com:

“It brings together all elements of adidas Originals and the diverse people who wear it — artists, athletes, musicians, skaters and so on, all in one place, doing what they love to do. So when we thought about how to best present adidas’ partnerships with Star Wars and the 2010 FIFA World Cupâ„¢, we immediately thought of temporarily turning the Mos Eisley Cantina into a place to watch some football and invite some friends along. The result is a truly unique, original film.”

Wonder how they were able to put this video together so seamlessly? In order to make this clip work, a set was built to recreate the dimensions of the bar that was featured in the original film. David Beckham, Snoop Dogg and the other participants worked with props and stand-ins to make sure the whole thing looked realistic. I’d say they hit the nail on the head. The clip is so realistic and entertaining, it’s no surprise that it’s gotten more than 1.3 views since it’s upload to YouTube three days ago.

What do you think of Adidas’ clip? How do you think it compares to the original Star Wars Cantina scene?
