AdMob released its January Mobile Metrics Report on Thursday. This latest report features the growing use of Wi-Fi as a mobile Internet access point in the US and Western Europe.
In the US, the West and Northeast saw heavier Wi-Fi usage than the South and Midwest. California (18%), New York (14%) and Texas (8%) led the way in Wi-Fi traffic.
Wi-Fi traffic to the mobile Web in Western Europe grew 132% to top 550 million requests in January. Spain and Italy experienced the fastest growth.
Also in Western Europe, the iPhone is the top device for using Wi-Fi to access the mobile Internet, with 21% of all requests.
