Adobe AIR 2.5 Wishful Thinking? Support for Android, BlackBerry Tablet OS & iOS (only Android Version Exists)

Adobe’s AIR Team Blog announcement of the latest release of AIR seems like a normal press release until you read the first bullet item.

Adobe AIR 2.5 is Now Available!

* Smartphones and tablets based on BlackBerry Tablet OS, Android and iOS

Read the list of platforms again. Android? Yes, AIR is available in the Android Market. BlackBerry Tablet OS? Hmm. This does not actually exist yet. It does not even have a firm availability date. And, iOS? As in iOS for the iPhone, iPad or Apple TV? I checked the iTunes App Store and, as expected, Adobe AIR is not available for the iPhone or iPad. Apple TV does not support apps. But, Adobe AIR might actually be a quite interesting applet source for it.

As the Adobe AIR Team Blog notes, there are indeed hundreds of AIR apps for the Android. They point to AppBrain’s site for a list of these apps.
