Facebook is looking to monetize Instagram, said the company’s VP of global marketing solutions, Carolyn Everson, in an interview with Business Insider.
Monetization, in all likelihood, means ads and other forms of sponsored content.
“Eventually we’ll figure out a way to monetize Instagram,” Everson told Business Insider.
“There are many brands that use Instagram right now to try to get a feel for how to engage with their followers. We will definitely be figuring out a monetization strategy. When that will happen, I can’t comment, but it’s going to happen,” she said.
The move to pull the plug on Twitter integration, driving pageviews on Instagram.com, also appears to be a move toward adopting an advertising model.
