Alltel just announced that starting today, it will offer Alltel subscribers who purchase new handsets 30 days of free usage for two of the company’s most powerful mobile media services, Alltel Navigation and XM Radio Mobile, FierceMobileContent reports.
Alltel Navigation offers voice-enabled, turn-by-turn directions similar to a standalone portable GPS device, with both pedestrian and car-based modes. Meanwhile, XM Radio Mobile lets subscribers listen to 25 different satellite radio channels in real-time. The free access is available until December 25th. Not a bad way to bring new customers into the fold, although it’s nothing different than what some of the major carriers already offer (such as AT&T’s 30-day-free trial of its own navigation service).
