Amazon Cautions Against Kindle iOS Update

Do you like reading eBooks on your iPhone or iPad using Amazon’s Kindle app? Then here’s a tip, don’t download the 3.6.1 update. This advice is coming straight from Amazon.

UPDATE: Amazon has released a 3.6.2 update and removed the warning about the previous edition. The new release includes “Fix for Registration Issue” and “Various Bug Fixes and Security Fixes”

Earlier today, Amazon posted this note on the update 3.6.1 update  listing in iTunes. It has since been removed: “There is a known issue with this update. If you are an existing Kindle for iOS user, we recommend you do not install this update at this time.”

TUAW has more: “Apparently, a glitch in the update is erasing the user’s entire book library from their iOS device.” While they will likely sort this out soon, it’s best to avoid the update at all costs, otherwise you could lose your Kindle library, at least temporarily.
