Guess what? Next time you run with the bulls, you’ll be able to buy bandages afterward locally from Amazon.
El Pais, a Spanish newspaper, is reporting that Amazon will launch Amazon.es next week. This is going to be Amazon’s 7th local website. According to sources, the new Amazon site is due to launch on 15 September, and it will sell pretty much the same stuff as Amazon’s other sites: books, music, videos electronics, etc. But it won’t include eBooks.
The Spanish Kindle Store is going to be delayed, but it should launch by the end of the year. El Pais is also reporting that Amazon.es will be selling Kindle eBooks for 30% than the print prices in Spain. In fact, that’s even been written into some of the contracts that Amazon has signed with Spanish publishers. Several publishers are mentioned as already having signed with Amazon to distribute Spanish language eBooks, including Roca Editorial, Random House Mondadori, Libros del Asteroide, and others. One described the delay as being technical, not contractual.
