Amazon Offers Startups an Assist With AWS Activate

One of the biggest challenges for startups is getting things going with limited resources. Amazon is aiming to alleviate some of these challenges with AWS Activate, a suite of startup services including AWS credits, a startup forum and special offers from third parties.

“For startups, it is paramount to gain access to technology resources that enable them to quickly and easily get started and scale as their business grows,” the press release says. “AWS Activate helps address startups’ needs for technology, support, knowledge sharing and additional resources that make it even easier to use the cloud to grow their businesses.”

Any startup can apply for the free “self-starter” package which includes:

  • Access to the ASW free usage tier
  • Developer-level AWS support for one month
  • Web based training and a self-paced lab
  • AWS startup forum
  • Special offers

There is also a portfolio package of resources available for startups associated with an accelerator, incubator or seedfund organization. Currently, there are nearly 40 such organizations working with AWS Activate, including 500 Startups, Techstars, Seedcamp and Y Combinator.

The portfolio package includes:

  • AWS Credits
  • Business-level support for up to one year
  • Instructor-led web0based training and labs
  • Access to Startup Forum
  • Special offers
