There is huge precedent for this, given that the failed Mobile ESPN carrier eventually became a Verizon V CAST content package. So it’s not much of a surprise that Amp’d Mobile’s extensive media portfolio will live on, despite the carrier’s painful descent into oblivion over the past few weeks.
According to Engadget Mobile, fixed wireless provider Clearwire is the top candidate to pick up Amp’d Mobile’s media catalog. This means that “the former Amp’d crew can concentrate on what it does best — produce entertaining content — and let Clearwire worry about the infrastructure.” That makes a lot more sense as a game plan than burning through almost $400 million trying to keep the spreadsheet numbers balanced.
