Advertising Age is reporting that Amp’d Mobile just opened up its $35 million ad account for “creative review.” Taxi, the agency that launched the brand in the US, “will not be participating” in the review.
According to Taxi co-founder Jane Hope, the agency is “fresh in New York and wanted to focus our efforts here at this time.” Amp’d wanted them to open an office in Los Angeles, but Taxi declined.
Amp’d is significant because it’s the only mobile carrier that creates its own media content. They currently have 100,000 subscribers, according to AdAge. Amp’d is an MVNO (mobile virtual network operator) that licenses bandwidth from Verizon.
