Some commenters on this blog seem to be under the impression that I am anti-Zune. Nothing could be further from the truth. What I am is disappointed that Microsoft squandered their resources and time by releasing a good product but not a great one. I’m disappointed that they didn’t produce a product that leapfrogged the iPod touch and would force Apple to up their own game.
In any case, here’s what can only be described as a glowing review from an unlikely, to me, source: Andy Ihnatko of the Chicago Sun-Times…
REVIEW: Microsoft’s Zune HD is a nifty media player
While I doubt anyone would point out Mr. Ihnatko as a biased reviewer, he makes no effort to hide his preference for many Apple products (and, what’s wrong with that?
. But, still I found statements like – It’s a wonderful player that triumphantly justifies its existence in a world dominated by iPods – somewhat surprising. But, he doesn’t go “fan boy” on the Zune and also notes that: If the Zune is superior in displaying graphics and album art, it’s not as strong when it comes to viewing video.
If you are looking for a mostly positive review of the Zune HD from an end-user point of view (Andy doesn’t go all techie-geekie on you), this is the review to wander over to read.
