Google’s first Android Developer Challenge last year prior to the release of the T-Mobile G1 resulted in a bunch of really interesting apps. Some created a new genre of apps (like the product barcode scanning apps for comparison shopping) that has spilled over onto the iPhone. Well, get ready for the next set of cool Android apps. Google announced…
…targeting the recently released Android 1.5 (Cupcake). The contest has 10 app categories…
1. Education/Reference
2. Games: Casual/Puzzle
3. Games: Arcade/Action
4. Social Networking
5. Lifestyle
6. Productivity/Tools
7. Media
8. Entertainment
9. Travel
10. Misc
And, each category will have a $100,000 1st prize, $50,000 2nd prize and $25,000 3rd prize winner. There is also an overall prize of $150,000 with 2nd and 3rd prize winners getting $50,000 and $25,000 respectively. Note that the overall prize is in addition to the category prize money. So, the overall 1st prize winner will get $250,000 in total.
