Android Works with LinkedIn

It’s official that LinkedIn works with Android and is now available for download in the Google Apps Marketplace and the LinkedIn Web site.

The app takes LinkedIn web site capabilities and brings the functionality to the smartphone. The product involves a home screen with links to six modules: Updates, Connections, Invitations, Search, Reconnect, and Messages. You can easily scroll through professional contacts as quickly as you can move your thumb or finger.

“Now, you can walk into any interview, any customer engagement or client meeting with the ability to look up the details on over 100 million professionals worldwide, in real-time,” wrote LinkedIn’s Chad Whitney in his blog post.

The beta version of LinkedIn app for Android was launched in December. The product included links to Updates, Connections, Invitations, and Search.

Whitney commented on the Beta launch, “…the team and I have had the great pleasure of working with a passionate group of Beta tester. Their feedback, bug reports, and involvement in the process were invaluable, and we want to express our sincere thanks for all of the contributions.”

There is room for improvement, though. LinkedIn will update the existing app in the coming months with “features that have been heavily requested during the public beta.”

Interestingly, the official release of app arrived on the same week that LinkedIn introduced a new platform that competes with Facebook. The platform allows third-party Web sites to add content from the LinkedIn.

Also recently, LinkedIn introduced several new products and reached 100 million users last month. The social network initiated the preparation for a public offering.
