There are any number of tools available for Twitter users to get control of the vast amount of information flooding the tweetstream.
One of the latest is called TweetMeNews. The service promises to tweet you “personalized, relevant news based on your interests.” These it determines by asking you a few questions, analyzing data (including you personal Twitter feed) and feeding that data into something TweetMeNews calls its “nobosh algorithms” (“nobosh” being a word derived from the British word “bosh,” or nonsense, so “nobosh” means “no nonsense”).
Currently TweetMeNews categories include Business, Technology, Advertising, Venture Capital and Health. (No “Celebrities” or “Idiotic Political Arguments”? Boy, are they missing the boat.)
TechCrunch’s Leena Rao has some more details:
TweetMeNews’ co-founder Brett Hellman says that the startup even checks your feed to make sure not to send your news that you’ve already received. You can choose for the service to send you up to ten stories per day.
Rao tested the service and said it sent her “a Tech news story from yesterday, which isn’t terribly helpful when it comes to receiving breaking news.” (Perhaps, but there’s a “Yesterday’s News Today” tagline that’s just waiting to be used!)
TechMeNews is pretty easy to set up, so if you’re not a breaking-news junkie by choice or trade, it might work for you.
Update: Near the bottom of its “About” page, TweetMeNews promises “additional categories soon. Keep an eye out for Sports, Celebrity, Video Games, and more!”
