At the Online Media, Marketing and Advertising (OMMA) Conference in Hollywood yesterday, NPower Digital Media CEO Bob Whitmore said that the traditional “30-second preroll needs to go.”
(A preroll is an online video ad that plays before the content you actually want to see).
Google/YouTube business product manager Hunter Walk concurred; he said that Google doesn’t think they work either, even though there’s no existing ad model that’s better.
All of this jives with an earlier stunning revelation we reported on about mobile prerolls. Basically, everyone dislikes them, but no one has a better idea.
