AOL Launches Healthy Living & Industry Social Communities

AOL is in full online-community-launching mode, announcing the debut of AOL Healthy Living, a consumer-targeted online destination focused on wellness and community engagement around mind and body health, and trade media-targeted AOL Industry, which will cover the energy, government, and defense sectors.

AOL Healthy Living is being overseen by department editor Alana B. Elias Kornfeld and wellness editor Patricia Fitzgerald, and the interactive community offers video, live Q&As, and advice on topics including healthy eating, fitness, unplugging and recharging, sleep, exercise, diet, vitamins, achieving happiness, stress reduction, spiritual development, mindfulness, and relaxation.

AOL Industry debuted Monday with the launch of AOL Energy, with AOL Government and AOL Defense to follow. Vice president and general manager Jay Kirsch will lead AOL Industry, with Peter Gardett, Wyatt Kash, and Colin Clark, respectively, named editors of AOL Energy, AOL Government, and AOL Defense.

The community will offer subject-specific news, information, tools, video, analysis, and niche communities allowing professionals, experts, and government employees to engage each other, and LinkedIn functionality was included to give users the opportunity to connect with industry leaders.

AOL Huffington Post Media Group president editor-in-chief Arianna Huffington said of AOL Healthy Living:
