New App Optimizes Your iPhone Videos for YouTube

This afternoon YouTube announced a brand new app for iPhone and iPod touch called YouTube Capture that optimizes the camera on your device for shooting and uploading videos to YouTube.

YouTube Capture is designed to simplify the process of shooting mobile video and uploading it to YouTube, allowing you to shoot, touch up, caption and share videos to YouTube, Google+, Facebook and Twitter in just a few clicks.

Reed Morse, software engineer at YouTube, writes on the YouTube blog, “YouTube Capture is ready to record as soon as you open it.  When you’re done filming, write a caption, select which networks you want to share to, and hit Share.  Even if you minimize the app, the video will keep uploading in the background.  You control who sees your video by setting it to private (only you can view it), unlisted (only people with a link can view it), or public (to let it shine to the world).”

Additionally, YouTube Capture gives you the option to enhance your video with color correction and stabilization.  You can also trim the length, add background music from YouTube and more.

Another great feature of YouTube Capture is that it does what it can to prevent the horrid “Vertical Video Syndrome” by reminding you to rotate your phone to the horizontal position when you begin filming.

Check out the video below to see the YouTube Capture app in action and let us know what you think.  Will you be trading in the plain old Camera app for YouTube Capture on your iPhone or iPod touch?
