App Store Revenue 4.5x Google Play In November: Distimo

Revenues in the Apple App Store on any given day in November 2012 were $15 million, while Google Play revenues were about $3.5 million on any day in 20 of the largest countries, according to a new report from Distimo.

Still Google Play is showing growth. In the past four months, the store had a aggregated growth in daily revenue of 43 percent. Apple App Store grew by 21 percent in daily revenue during the same time frame.

The report also found that seven apps were responsible for 10 percent of the revenues in Apple’s store in November 2012 for iPhone and six apps held 10 percent of revenues for the iPad. In Google Play only four apps commanded 10 percent of all revenues.

Here is more from the Distimo blog: “Draw Something, one of the best known apps of 2012, reached 1M users in nine days, and at Distimo we found it is possible to gain 1M users much faster. Naver, one of the most successful Asian publishers, launched five applications at the end of November and all five quickly became the most popular applications in many Asian countries. We estimated Line Pop, the most popular of those, to have gathered 1.75M downloads within 72 hours.”
