All rumors point to Apple these days. Even the recent Microsoft press events announcing (1) its partnership with Nokia to bring Office to Nokia smartphones and (2) Microsoft Mac Office team announcing changing the name of Entourage to the more familiar Outlook brought up speculation related to Apple.

According to All Things D and numerous other sites, Apple will hold a press event sometime during the second week of of September…

Here It Comes. But What Is It, Exactly? Apple Plans Keynote Event for September.

This is usually the time of year when they announce refreshed iPods. So, it probably isn’t much of stretch to speculate that the iPod touch and nano will probably see a refresh. We may even see the hard disk based iPod classic disappear (that’s just a guess on my part). One persisitent rumor is that both the iPod touch and nano will gain cameras and perhaps other iPhone-like features.

There’s also speculation that some kind of tablet will makes its appearance at this September event. Some pundits seem sure it will appear based on “reliable sources” while others refute this idea. After jumping in and out of both camps, I’m starting to lean towards the idea that an Apple tablet type device will NOT be announced in September. This seems more like an after the New Year announcement at Apple’s first CES appearance.
