Ashton Kutcher & The Village Voice Throw Down On Twitter

Ashton Kutcher and The Village Voice are currently engaged in a Twitter battle after The Voice gave Kutcher’s ‘Real Men Don’t Buy Girls’ campaign a less than satisfactory review.

In an article that hit The Village Voice yesterday called ‘Real Men Get Their Facts Straight’, writers Martin Cizmar, Ellis Conklin and Kristen Hinman claim that Kutcher’s campaign is way off the mark, when it comes to facts.  Talking about his campaign on CNN, Kutcher said that there are “between 100,000 and 300,000 child sex slaves in the United States today.”  The Village Voice writers, on the other hand, claim that, “There are not 100,000 to 300,000 children in America turning to prostitution every year.  The statistic was hatched without regard to science.  It is a bogeyman.”

Following the article’s release, Kutcher lashed out against The Village Voice on Twitter with a series of Tweets:

The Village Voice took awhile to respond to the barrage of tweets, as they were sent outside of business hours, but they have taken a stab right back at Kutcher this morning:

Ashton Kutcher has yet to respond to The Village Voice, but we’re certainly glued to Twitter, waiting to see what he’ll have to say!  The Voice does sound pretty confident, though.  I’m interested to see where their fact-checking will get them.  Though I also think it’s important to point out that they didn’t respond to Kutcher’s link to a MediaPost article on the Village Voice being sued for aiding and abetting sex trafficking.
