AT&T Mobility appeared to make the most of Cyber Monday, “the warm, fuzzy term for the first Monday following Thanksgiving,” by cutting prices about in half on nearly its entire online portfolio, a new RCR Wireless News report said. The only phone excluded from the strong promotion was Apple’s iPhone.
The online approach “may well have contributed to AT&T’s apparent popularity that day,” the article said. “According to Nielsen Online, AT&T was the fourth-most visited site on Cyber Monday, after eBay, Amazon.com and Wal-Mart.”
This came on a record day for Cyber Monday, with a Nielsen Online study saying that 32.5 million customers spent $733 million last Monday. That’s a 10 percent jump in customers and a 21 percent jump in revenue from Cyber Monday back in 2006.
