Last week, AT&T said that its MediaFLO-based mobile TV service will be up and running in May, complete with two exclusive channels. This morning, Sony Pictures Television said that its movies will be featured on one of them.
According to an article on mocoNews, PIX is a linear channel that will broadcast movies from the various Sony studios including Columbia, TriStar, Screen Gems and Sony Classic. The flicks on PIX will each run on for a month on the channel with new titles being added every week.
Sony freely admits that it doesn’t expect people to watch the entire movie on the tiny screen. More likely, they’ll click on the channel and catch parts of old favorites, which might lead them to go buy the DVD or spend money on other Sony products.
