AT&T is working hard to stay ahead of the competition in mobile music. Its latest move is a partnership with mSpot, making AT&T the exclusive US provider of the mSpot Make-UR-Tones ringtone maker application.
For $2.99 per ringtone or $6.99 a month for three ringtones, Make-UR-Tones users can create one- to 30-second ringtones from some 250,000 tracks from EMI, Universal, Warner Music, INgrooves and IRIS.
The cellco is also offering mSpot’s Remix service that provides access to a PC-based music library from a mobile phone. Remix actually downloads the full track to the phone’s memory card so you can listen to it even when not connected to the network. The $9.99 subscription allows for 75 downloads a month. A $2.99 booster pack gives you an extra 10 song downloads.
Separately, AT&T plans on broadening its Napster Mobile offering this summer, making access Napster’s five million tracks available on a wider selection of handsets.
