mediaFLO.jpgAT&T will launch its mobile TV service, using MediaFLO’s broadcast network, “as early as possible” in 2008, according to a Multichannel News report relayed by MocoNews:

“It had been reported earlier that the service’s launch had been pushed back to next year because AT&T was fine-tuning things; a spokesman confirms this, saying the operator wanted to ‘make sure the user experience is absolutely optimal.’” That’s code for “it doesn’t look all that great yet.”

The post states that the service will initially have MediaFLO’s usual eight channels: CBS Mobile, Fox Mobile, NBC2Go, NBC News2Go, ESPN Mobile TV, MTV, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon. Currently Verizon is the only carrier to offer broadcast mobile television channels in the U.S. It only works on a couple of their handsets, including the new LG Voyager.
