New ‘Angry Birds Star Wars’ Trailer Reveals Obi-Wan Bird Character

The latest installment in the game franchise involving fierce fowl is due to be released on November 8th, and the trailers have just begun to get interesting. Rovio posted yet another trailer today and for the first time they’ve shown us a character which I think is cool.

If you skip to about 26 seconds into the movie you’ll see what I think is a bird based on Obi-Wan Kenobi. This bird appears to use The Force to attack the piggies. Now that looks like a neat trick, unlike the blaster, lightsaber, or taser inspired characters which Rovio has already shown us.

Fan-Made iMac Touch Commercial Shows the Apple Tablet That We All Secretly Want

The following ad doesn’t show a real Apple product, just one which some Apple fanboys wish they would make.

This video is the work of Cinesaurus, a Seattle-based design firm whose past projects include a satirical take on the taller iPhone 5. As you can see, it is based on the first commercial for the iPad Mini.

Cinesaurus took the idea and expanded it to include the iPhone, the iPod Nano, and the mythical iMac Touch. Even if you don’t want to buy any of these gadgets I’m sure you’ll agree that this is a cool video.

Drop Test: iPad Mini vs Nexus 7!

Android Authority just got their hands on a new iPad Mini, and rather than post a review they decided to test to see if it was solidly constructed. And just to make things more interesting, they tested the iPad Mini alongside a Nexus 7.

The test showed pretty much what you would expect. Tablets are fragile, and when you drop them on concrete tile they will tend to break.

‘Angry Birds Star Wars’ to Get Chewbacca & Solo as Bird Characters: Video

The release of the latest installment in you favorite game franchise is only six days away and the game play videos are getting a little thick on Youtube. Today’s video shows that the giant red bird has been adapted to look like Chewbacca and the yellow bird now looks vaguely like Han Solo.

The video also shows that there will be zero gravity levels like the ones found in Angry Birds Space as well as ones placed on the various planets found in the movies. The variety should add more challenges as you are forced to switch your technique from one style to the next.

Pinch Lets You Use an App Across Multiple Displays: Video

As any mobile device user can tell you, one screen is never enough, and that goes double when it is a small screen. That’s why I am please to show you the latest project from a research group at the Tokyo University of Technology. They’ve developed a way to use 2 or more screens as a single display. They’re calling it Pinch, and they’ve named it based on the gesture used to connect the screens on the 2 devices.

Here’s more about how it works:

New Angry Birds Star Wars Trailer Reveals R2-D2 and C3-PO Characters

We’re still a week away from he release date for this game and today Rovio teased us with another game play video.

As you can see in the video, both droid characters from the movies have been adapted for the new game. R2 was given a taser like ability, and C-3PO blows up. Neither ability is really all that close to what the characters do in the movies, but I suppose that is forgivable. These droids don’t actually do much besides stand there and talk, so if Rovio wanted to bring the iconic characters into the new game it would involve reinventing the characters.

Amazon Game Studios Releases First Mobile Game – ‘Air Patriots’

It looks like publishing isn’t the only industry under assault from Amazon. The retail giant has just announced their second game and it is called Air Patriots.

This game falls in the crowded “tower defense” category.  Like many other games in this genre, the pieces will only move down a particular track on the game board, and the player’s goal is to place defenses so that they can concentrate enough firepower to destroy the enemy. Read more

The Conan Show Reveals Apple’s Future iPad Plans: Video

The iPad Mini is regarded by Apple as being the perfect sized small tablet. But what if there was an even more perfect sized tablet in between the iPad and the iPad Mini?

The Conan Show decided to show us this tablet. They made a faux Apple commercial in which Apple introduces 3 new iPads: the iPad Mini Mega, the iPad Mini Mega Micro, and the iPad Mini Mega Micro Max.

Yes, it is as silly as it sounds, but that’s part of why it is so funny. Read more

Google Updates iOS Search App

Not satisfied with how well Siri answers your questions? Thanks to Google, there is now another option.

Google has just released an updated version of their iPhone and iPad search app. The new app features improved voice recognition which will help you get the answers you need.

I have not had a chance to try it myself, but I am looking forward to this app giving Siri a run for her money. As much as Apple wants you to think Siri is perfect, that virtual assistant has been shown to have a number of issues. For example, Siri was unable to respond accurately to any requests given in a Scottish accent. Siri has also been out through independent tests which showed that the app is much less accurate than the commercials would have you believe. Read more
