European Web TV service Babelgum has launched its mobile video app in the US. The new service features programming chosen specifically for the American audience, with such channels as music, comedy, film, Our Earth and Metropolis. There’s also a channel with content from Babelgum’s online film festival and music video awards.
Babelgum, which is already live in the UK and Italy, is launching in the US with a free application for the iPhone and iPod touch. It will be available on the Android platform later this month. Future supported handsets include the BlackBerry Storm, Samsung Omnia and Nokia N97 and 5800.
The company also unveiled a redesigned Web site for its online service, complete with a new Flash-based video player so viewers can watch their favorite programs within their Web browser. Babelgum gave the online video player and the mobile app a similar look-and-feel to reinforce its desire “to reach consumers wherever they are – at home, at work or on-the-go.”
