Matthew Postgate, the current BBC Mobile chief, will move over to head up the company’s R&D unit, MocoNews reports. That unit was responsible over the past 60 years for digital audio broadcasting, color TV (!), Nicam, and Teletext, although the report said it also “faced a staff revolt” recently over a planned move from Kingswood Warren, Surrey, to White City, London.
The article said that Postgate, in addition to resolving the above crisis, will work with industry and academia to develop a long-term strategy focused on broadband, including strengthening relationships with both research institutes and universities. In the meantime, no one has been named to replace Postgate as the new BBC Mobile chief.
