Before and After: The Grammy Awards on Social Media

Every year, the Grammy Awards show gathers all the usual suspects for a replay of the year’s favorite hits. Fortunately, outspoken celebrities in crazy outfits still manage to surprise us every time — sometimes with their songs, sometimes with their acceptance speeches. These two infographics show how the artists fared on social media sites before and after the show in 2013.

Before

Silverpop analyzed email, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and SMS conversations to see how well the six most-nominated artists were getting their fans pumped up for the big show. Mumford & Sons topped the list of savvy artists in this category, while Frank Ocean was the most entertaining.

After

Whispr Group checked Twitter during and after the show for the most-tweeted moments and top celebrities. Grammy-related tweets this year were up 29 percent overall. Taylor Swift and Frank Ocean proved to be controversial figures, while Justin Timberlake walked away from the show with the most new fans. His performance and the Bob Marley tribute were two topped the list of great musical moments for the night.
