Bing2.jpgTwo months in existence have meant two months of increases in usage and market share for Microsoft’s new Bing search engine, as comScore said Bing accounted for 8.9% of search queries in the United States in July, up from 8.4% in June and 8% in May, The New York TimesBits reported.

July brought drops of 0.3% to Google and Yahoo!, as they fell to 64.7% and 19.3%, respectively.

According to Bits, analysts were reluctant to read too much into the July figures.

Broadpoint AmTech analyst Benjamin Schachter wrote:

Although Bing took a bit of share from both Google and Yahoo!, we are reluctant to extrapolate this into meaningful long-term share gains.

And Thomas Weisel Partners analyst Christa Quarles wrote:

While the data indicate a very modest near-term bounce, we will be watching closely to see if any query pickup is sustainable.
