Blyk, the ad-supported MVNO targeting 16- to 24-year-olds, said it plans to launch its service in the Netherlands later this year. According to telecoms.com, the service will run on the Vodafone Netherlands network.

The company went live in the UK in September with a mobile service that provides voice minutes and text messaging in exchange for sending mobile ads to subscribers. Blyk hasn’t revealed the specifics of the Dutch offering, but said it will do so when the service launches in the second half.

News of the expansion into the Netherlands comes on the heels of rumors that a number of UK customers are turning off the messaging function on their Blyk phones to avoid receiving ads. Blyk denied the claims, saying instead that it’s most likely a case of people not fully understanding how the service works.
