B&N Now Offers Free Trials in the Nook App Store

Barnes & Noble might not get as much attention for the Nook App Store as they’d like, but they’re still quietly working to make it better. They added a new option this week which will enable Nook Color and Nook Tablet owners  to try apps on their devices before buying them.

There was no announcement, not even inside B&N, but you can find the trial mode via the B&N website. It’s only available for a select number of apps (about 240). Some of the apps were already free (Showtime, Flipboard), so I’m not sure what value this new trial option adds for them.

The Amazon Appstore and Google Play both have far more free and ad-supported apps than the Nook App Store, and Amazon has long since added free trials  to their app store. It’s good to see B&N working to match the big boys feature for feature.
