Borders has released their iPad eReader application to join Amazon and Barnes and Noble amongst book stores with iPad applications. In reality, the Borders eBooks app is a re-branded version of Kobo, which I wrote about previously because of the Kobo Android app. An interesting trend has developed where the Borders and Barnes and Noble eReader apps are rebrandings of apps that already exist in app stores. The B&N eReader iPhone app and the eReader iPhone app are basically the same programs that work with two different book stores, Barnes and Noble and eReader. Likewise, Kobo and the Borders eBook apps are the same working with two different stores, Kobo and Borders. Fortunately, Barnes and Noble and Borders have done a good job of labeling their programs in the apps stores so that they don’t get confused.
