Amazon just announced a deal to purchase Audible, along with its 80,000-odd audio books, newspapers, and radio programs, for $300 million, Engadget is reporting.
The transaction will likely be completed sometime in the second quarter of 2008. This should give Amazon a stronger toe-hold in the digital media market, and fit nicely alongside its new Kindle eBook reader and eBook store, and the new Amazon MP3 store that sells unprotected MP3 files.
