Brightcove4.jpgThe new version of Brightcove‘s online-video platform, Brightcove 4, which was released Monday, added support for an iPhone video player, Facebook and live video streaming, according to TechCrunch.

Brightcove 4 also added the ability to share videos via Twitter, the ability to switch between Flash streaming and HTTP, adaptive streaming based on a user’s device and bandwidth, behind-the-firewall video delivery, support for major ad servers, better analytics and an entry-level subscription service called Brightcove Express, according to TechCrunch.

The iPhone player uses the Quicktime APIs to render the player within an application, and developers can skin the player any way they choose, TechCrunch reported, adding that Brightcove 4 offers a template that permits Facebook Connect logins with real-time comments that appear in each commenter’s Facebook stream, and Brightcove videos shared on Facebook will also be playable within the stream, like YouTube videos.
