HipCricket, a marketing company that provides real-time text traffic alerts to mobile phones, just signed a deal with six radio broadcast companies.
The new deal will bring “opt-in” text marketing to a total of 43 radio stations represented by those six broadcasting firms: Hubbard Radio, Triad Broadcasting Company, Perry Broadcasting Inc, Press Communications, Sandusky Radio Seattle, and South Central Radio Group, according to MediaPost.
From the news brief: “In the midst of an industry-wide decline in radio ad spending, more stations are turning to interactive tactics to stem that tide.” It’s a bit of a downward spiral, though. The more “interactive aware” a consumer is, the more that person will realize there are zillions of better Internet and satellite radio options to listen to.
