Brotherly Love in Philadelphia Does Not Extend to Bloggers

PhiladelphiaSkyline.jpgPhiladelphia Freedom apparently doesn’t extend to bloggers trying to earn a little cash, as the city of Philadelphia is requiring any blogger who enables advertising to pay $50 per year or $300 for a lifetime to register as a business, no matter how little money the blogs bring in or whether they are profitable, ReadWriteWeb reports.

According to a report in Philadelphia City Paper, honesty was the undoing of bloggers, as the city sent letters to bloggers Marilyn Bess and Sean Barry demanding payment of business-license fees. Bess reported some $50 in income over a few years from her Msphillyorganic blog on her tax return, while Barry has raked in a whopping $11 during the past two years on his Circle of Fits music blog.
