Is CNN ready for life without the Associated Press? According to The Washington Examiner, the cable news network will try to find out over the next week.
The network is attempting to evaluate whether or not it needs an AP subscription, and it will rely on feedback from staff, according to The Examiner, which shared feedback from one CNN staffer in its bureau in Washington, D.C.: “A lot of us are worried that this could hamper our newsgathering abilities, but it’s too soon to know for sure.”
CNN representative Christa Robinson told The Examiner:
CNN has made a conscious effort in the last few years to reduce our reliance on outside wire services. Currently, CNN.com does not use stories or images from the AP.
