Catarina Fake’s Findery Launches in Public Beta

Findery allows users to create notes and place them geographically. For instance, one user wrote about an artisan cheesemaker and placed the note atop the spot on the map. Users can share their notes publicly, with their friends, or keep them private. They can also share the notes through Facebook and Twitter.

The company had been called Pinwheel, but rebranded after it lost a trademark dispute with the photo-sharing app Pinweel.

Findery notably lacks mobile apps, but promises they are coming soon, as are maps that can be embedded in other websites.

The company is funded by Redpoint, True, Betaworks, Founder Collective, SVAngel and Obvious Corp.
