Facebook (Unofficially) Lands on Google Glass (AllFacebook)
Although it’s only available to a super-select few, Facebook already has a home on Google Glass. It’s not the official Facebook application, but TechCrunch reports that recently launched photo-sharing app Glass to Facebook uploads photos taken with Google Glass to users’ Facebook accounts.

Can Silicon Valley Beat Poverty with Crowdfunding? (SocialTimes)
Benevolent, a crowdfunding site that helps economically needy individuals pay for one-time items they need to work, is expanding beyond a Chicago beta into several additional markets including Detroit and Silicon Valley. Dick Costolo, CEO of Twitter, began his keynote at University of Michigan’s commencement ceremony Saturday not by speaking, but by tweeting. The CEO of Twitter and U-M alum sent a picture of the roughly 5,000 students sitting across from him in the Big House, waiting to graduate, to his more than one million Twitter followers.

Instagram Has Tagged You in a Photo (SocialTimes)
The words everybody dreads seeing in their inboxes — “[your friend] has tagged you in a photo” — are coming to the photo-sharing site Instagram. Just like on Facebook, you will now be able to label the people in your Instagram photos by tapping on the picture and filling in the names through the “Photos of You” feature. Brands can also be tagged.

J.C. Penney is trying to turn a new leaf following the ouster of CEO Ron Johnson who eliminated sales and coupons at the department store in favor of everyday prices. Now, it is turning to social media – Facebook, Twitter and YouTube specifically – to ask former customers for a second chance, and they are responding both positively and negatively.

How Facebook Could Disrupt Traditional Online Display Advertising (SocialTimes)
Facebook’s advertising revenue dropped slightly in the first quarter of 2013 compared to last quarter, but analysts at Spruce Media say that the company “is poised to disrupt traditional online display advertising by becoming the starting point for all media buys.” Their findings are outlined in Spruce Media’s State of Facebook Advertising Q1 2013 report, in which the analysts explained that “Facebook is laying this foundation through a combination of acquisitions, monumental ad product releases and market strategy.”

Twitter Opens its Self-Serve Advertising Platform to All U.S. Users (SocialTimes)
Twitter will open its advertising platform to all users in the United States, the company announced on Tuesday. The self-serve advertising suite allows account administrators to run their own campaigns by promoting their accounts or individual Tweets to specific groups within the social network, and to track the results through Twitter analytics.

Foursquare is looking for advertisers to participate in its efforts to retarget ads to Web users based on their check-ins and to serve up interstitial ads in its mobile apps, according to a leaked pitch deck for advertisers obtained by Gawker’s Valley Wag. Foursquare’s latest round of funding was in loans, rather than outright investment, demonstrating its investors’ impatience with the company’s failure to generate revenue.
