SMS search service ChaCha is crowing that it was one of the top 10 companies in terms of SMS traffic, according to the 4Q08 Mobile Messaging Report from Nielsen. Going head-to-head, ChaCha saw 70% of the traffic as did market leader Google. Not bad for a company that only launched in January of 2008.
ChaCha, which took the seventh position, is also gaining ground on social sites Facebook and Twitter, the company brags. ChaCha’s service lets users text a question to a short code (242242 or “CHACHA”) and receive an answer, often within seconds. The service clocked more than 3.5 million unique mobile users in its first year.
