Check-In Button More Prominent in foursquare v3.2 for iPhone

Checking in on foursquare just got a little easier for iPhone users with the release of version 3.2 of the location-based mobile app.

A new check-in button, placed in the center of the bottom toolbar, was the highlight of the new features in version 3.2, and foursquare also introduced an improved Explore tab to help users find specials at participating venues, incorporating content that formerly appeared under Specials Nearby.

One casualty of the new version of the iPhone app: The Shout button is no more, but users can still attach shouts to their check-ins. foursquare explained in a blog post, “Since foursquare is ultimately location-based, we decided that shouts should always be attached to a check-in. From now on, if you want to shout, just enter your text when you’re checking in someplace (millions of you do, every day). Though a bunch of us here at HQ were also bummed about the loss, we found it lays the groundwork for better things in the future.”

Silicon Alley Insider also pointed out that the less cluttered screen leaves more room for Nearby Places.

foursquare added in its blog post that new versions for Android and BlackBerry devices are forthcoming.
