NASA’s Curiosity Rover is constantly in the news right now, and this app lets get up close and personal.
Spacecraft 3D uses the camera on an iPad or iPhone to show you an augmented reality model of the rover. You’ll first need to print out a sheet of paper with the necessary AR code, but once you do you’ll be able to see a realistic model of Curiosity.
The model will appear to be in the room with you and appear to be about 4 inches long. You can rotate, raise and lower various components, and you can look at it from various angles as you shift your iPad around.
While the app doesn’t let you do anything wild like actually drive the rover, I still think it helps convey a better understanding of how it’s put together. I can’t wait to show off the app.
