Nokia_6650.jpgChina Mobile, the world’s largest cell phone carrier, has signed an agreement with Nokia to begin selling media-capable 3G-capable handsets from the Finnish vendor on China Mobile’s TD-SCDMA 3G network, according to RCR Wireless News.

That means Nokia joins Samsung in offering 3G capable handsets in China. The carrier is also working on deals with both Sony Ericsson and Motorola, and continues to negotiate with Apple on how to bring the iPhone to the country, according to the report, which cited a state-run China Daily article.

The report called China Mobile’s market an opportunity for handset vendors, particularly the struggling Sony Ericsson and Motorola, to find growth in an otherwise dismal looking 2009 economy.
