Chrome OS (not Android) Tablet Resurfaces. Will Google Tablet (Android vs. Chrome OS) Ensue?

Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt famously said last year that: Chrome OS is for keyboards, Android is for touch (The Next Web & many other reports). So, what is this that CNET is reporting about a keyboardless tablet running Chrome OS?

Google begins tablet version of Chrome OS

It turns out that Schmidt’s pronouncement came months after a Google interface designer had posted a Chrome OS tablet mockup (as reported by Wired below).

In fact, there’s an entire concept video that was created in early 2010. You can see it embedded below.

Google’s already fragmented Android platform (multiple smartphone releases that are different from the tablet version) is going to get a lot more confusing if a totally different Chrome OS tablet joins the mix.
