Circuit City joins Best Buy, Yahoo, and MTV’s Urge by offering a subscription download music service for (non-Apple) portable MP3 players.
The service, based on Napster’s technology and called (are you ready?) Circuit City + Napster, gives consumers access to 2 million songs at a fixed price of $14.95 per month. Consumers can also purchase and download individual tracks at 99 cents each.
There don’t seem to be any distinguishing features to the new service whatsoever. Count it as one more in the pot fighting for Apple’s table scraps.
