Clickshare Collects for The Virginian-Pilot iPad App

The Virginian-Pilot tapped Clickshare Service as the payments vendor for its iPad app, and the vendor’s system is enabling the Landmark Media Enterprises-owned newspaper to collect subscription fees directly, rather than through Apple’s iTunes App Store.

The newspaper has been using Clickshare’s online-subscription-management solution for its digital edition since March 2008, and the system enables it to grant free access to print subscribers while charging Web-only users.

The Virginian-Pilot circulation marketing manager Danielle Rodier said:

The main reason that we’re doing this is to make The Pilot available to other mediums. It’s really important for us to diversify how we get information out to the public.
